Be Fucking Awesome

Posted in all by popfuze09 on October 29, 2009

Whats Your Latest Fucking Awesome Deed? That is what BeFuckingAwesome is asking. With a name that you will instantly remember and a nice colourful design, the site is impressive on a first look. To understand it, basically think Twitter for accomplishments. So instead of encouraging tweets like “I am eating a ham sandwhich”, BFA aims to get people to only talk about good things they have done. Such as “I helped an old woman cross the street”.

Grooveshark gets an update. It is somehow even better than before!

Posted in all by popfuze09 on October 29, 2009

One thing I have always like about Grooveshark was its slick interface. It was quick and intutitive, even though it was slightly different to other similar sites. The recent update brings a more conventional design – but it is even more awesome than before.

It’s #musicmonday on Twitter and that means sharing songs. Pop Fuze isn’t going to recommend any songs or artists for you though. Rather, I am going to list my favourite free music streaming sites.

#beatcancer is over

Posted in all by popfuze09 on October 18, 2009

#beatcancer is the top trending topic on Twitter at the moment and has been for awhile now. eBay/Paypal and MillerCoors are donating a cent per hashtag (via tweet, Facebook update, or blog post). The campaign is aiming for a Guinness World Record “for the distribution of the largest mass message through social media” in one day.

The time is up! According to Mashable, only 200,000 tweets with #beatcancer were made which is only equivalent to ~$2000. Terrible! And that is split between more than one company.

In my opinion, the time should be extended for a longer period. For now though, your #beatcancer tweets are NOT donating money.

Your Guide to Google Wave

Google Wave Guide

Google Wave Guide

Let me start by saying: Google Wave is great. I love it. A lot of things need to be improved though. One of the biggest problems is Wave management. It gets crazy in there! In this guide, I hope to show you how to manage your Google Wave Account.

Your profile

Your profile picture, and profile information is all being pulled from your Google profile account. It is a good idea to use a picture. A picture lets other people see who is in a wave quickly ans easily. This is what a lost of users with no pictures looks like:

Not good!

To edit your profile click on your name in your Contact List and then click “Edit Profile”. You can also set your status in Google Wave here.

Information Site for Irish Entrepreneurs

Posted in all by popfuze09 on October 16, 2009

Helping Ireland’s Entrepreneurs Get Started. That is Startups.ie‘s tagline. It’s a new site dedicated to sharing information about starting a company in Ireland. It has a message board, blog posts and bets of all a share your experiences section.

It’s still new so there isn’t much information on it yet. But hopefully that will be changing soon. I’ll be keeping an eye on it for the time being.

Google Wave invites all gone

Posted in all by popfuze09 on October 16, 2009
No invites left

No invites left

I sent out the last of the five Google Wave invites I had just moments ago. Congrats to Jani, Peter (for replying so fast), Bob, Ben and Ian (randomly selected). Sorry to those that didn’t get an invite – if I had more, I’d give them out.

To the people that I did invite: Invites are no immediate. I invited a friend too and he got his within two days. From speaking to some people, this doesn’t seem to be the usual case. Some people have been waiting a lot longer to get access even when they have been invited. Stay patient and good luck!

How to join public Waves on Google Wave

Posted in all by popfuze09 on October 16, 2009

Lots of people have gotten Wave invites recently. Pop Fuze gave away five recently. It’s exciting to get an invite and use.. for the first five minutes. After that, if none of your contacts are on Wave, you might be at a loss for something to do. Have no fear, public Waves are here! To join a public Wave, simply search for “with:public” without the quotes. You should now see all the public Waves.

What if I want to make my own Wave public?

Add public@a.googlewave.com to your Wave. Easy. When you add public@a.googlewave.com ass a contact, it will say that it is not a Wave member and the submit button will be greyed out. Just hit enter and it will work.

Pop Fuze has five Google Wave Invites

Posted in all by popfuze09 on October 16, 2009

Since Google have released the second batch of invites to those who signed up months ago, Wave invites aren’t as sought after. Still, there might be some people out there who appreciate this. I am giving away five invites to whoever replies to this blog post. If more than five people reply, I will just pick five random people to give them to.

Google versus Amazon

Posted in all by popfuze09 on October 16, 2009

Two giants of the online world are about to be competing in the same territory. Amazon is America’s largest online retailer and Google is the worlds most popular search engine. What similar product could both these companies have?

Digital books. Amazon at the moment sells digital books on its website which can be used on its very own digital book reader, Kindle. (more…)
